Since 1651 Strib has been an important ferry crossing between Funen and Jutland. After the railroad to Strib opened in 1866 the town became an important and busy transport hub for traffic between those regions. Strib Marina is built in the berth of the railroad ferries.
When the Little Belt Bridge was opened in 1935 employment in Strib became scarce. This influenced the town for a long time. Today, however, Strib has become a popular location because of its accessibility and recreational properties. Visitors to the marina can enjoy looking at the ships on Little Belt, go for walks along the beach, and maybe spot a porpoise.
